  • Emo!

Sometimes I wonder why people treat other people so cold. Is it wrong to show a nice gesture?  I think it’s pretty bad that when one person does show that kind of gesture to a friend and the only thing the friend does is demand to be left alone. The only reason that I can think of for that friend for doing so is that it’s that “time of the month” again. Don’t get it? Go have your science knowledge up to par for goodness sake.

Yes, that happened to me and that’s why I’m ranting here. I just had to get this off my chest. I hate to keep bad emotions in my head for too long because it will just make my day worse. I might end up in a road accident because of the emo-ness in my head. If I can’t show the emo-ness directly, I’ll channel it off somewhere else. Honestly, I think it’s just bullshit for someone to treat you that way. I’ve learned my lesson. There’s no way I’m going to ask much from this friend of mine again, especially during that so-called “time of the month”. I’m just guessing it is by the way, but who cares. It’s certainly not worth getting that cold treatment again.

Humans should learn how to treat other people nicely even if they don’t feel good or happy. Just decline an invitation politely and people will accept it. Don’t go “What do you want then?” or “Why do you want to go out for lunch?” Must there be a reason for everything? If a response like “Sorry, I don’t think I can make it” or “We’ll go out another time since both of us don’t have the time” came along it’d go down just fine by me.

That’s all for the ranting this week. I sure hope I’ll have better days ahead. Can’t wait for my part-time job to be over then I’m free for a whole month! Yippee!

  • Popcorn Time!

It’s been a very long time since I last blogged. Nothing much has been going on for me these past few weeks except for a build-up of coursework and their looming deadlines. Gosh, my life is such a bore!

I watched a few movies in the past month. I think I probably went Midvalley twice or three times just to watch movies. That kind of explains why the mileage in my mom’s car can reach up to 400km in just a week. Haha. My friends and I went to watch “Watchmen”. I can’t say I disliked the movie but the only thing that bothered me was that it was just a little too long. It involved a lot of talking too but that was highly expected since they had to portray each of the 5 heroes’ stories. Lots of violence in the movie and it showed what men are capable of – being good and bad at the same time. Rating for this movie: 7 out of 10.

I watched “Marley & Me” too. Oh, the cuteness of Marley! But man, that’s one crazy dog! Luckily my Trixie or Frosty are not like that or else it’s going to be massive havoc in my house. The movie was funny and although it’s not that kind of movie that is going to blow the box-office charts away, I thought it was quite good. You got to love Marley in that movie. Shitting at the beach, dominating a dog trainer and creating a hole on one of the walls in a house? Epic! Haha. Rating for this movie: 7.5 out of 10.

Last but not least I also watched “Knowing”. Gosh, this movie made me want to kill movie producers or whoever that comes up with a movie that has aliens in it!!! Half of the movie was somewhat great until it had to be spoilt with aliens coming down to bring only selected people into a new world because Earth was going KA-BOOM! For goodness sake, didn’t they learn from Indiana Jones already that aliens are just going to make the movie look stupid? Before I realized the movie had aliens the movie was about someone trying to stop a predicted disaster. Only thing is he just can’t. And the way they played out the disasters in the movie was simply awesome! It was like you were part of it. Then  came the aliens..’Nuff said. Rating for this movie:4.5 out of 10 (actually 4 for how they played out the disasters and 0.5 for Nicholas Cage’s acting).

Sigh...I should really be doing my work now instead of blogging. I have like tons of work still in progress and it’s already April! Time moves quickly indeed. I have to start getting back to work! Funny how I can come up with this many words in like 10 minutes or so but when it comes to work, I can hardly write 250 words in an hour. Writers block? Maybe.. Haha. Gotta go now.

  • Time to Hit the Panic Button?

Man, it's been a long time since I last blogged. They are a few reasons why I've not blogged for so long. First of all, there's no internet in the house I'm renting in Semenyih which kinda sucks. But in past few weeks, I have been "stealing" the wireless connection from my neighbour's house. Another reason is just that I had nothing to blog about really because nothing's really been going on.
Anyway, I just got less than 2 months left to finish my dissertation. I have a loooooooong way to go. And by that I mean like about 7000 words to go. I'm kinda panicking right now because I really should be doing some work on it but I just don't have the mood to do it. But I'm surely going to finish it no matter what because my future pretty much depends on it and another 2 subjects. So yeah, I'm pretty much screwed if I don't start resuming my dissertation soon.
I watched The Curious Case of Benjamin Button a few days ago and I thought the movie was OK. It wasn't great but certainly not bad either. I thought Brad Pitt's performance was decent although it could have been better. I must say Cate Blanchett looked much younger in the movie and quite pretty too. Plot was good and there were some funny parts in the movie too. But a word of caution for those who haven't watched it yet : The movie is 2 hours and 40 minutes long so expect it to be pretty draggy at times. All in all, I would rate the movie 7/10.
It's Oscars weekend! There's a lot of hype for the movie Slumdog Millionaire. Apparently, the movie has won the Best Film in all movie awards in 2009 so far so I'm pretty much sure that the movie's winning the Best Film at the Oscars too. I haven't watched it yet but I heard a lot of good comments from my friends so I'm definitely going to watch it. I think the movie has been nominated for 10 awards but Benjamin Button has 13 I think. Don't ask me how they got 13 nominations because I certainly can't think of more than 6 or 7 for that movie. Oh yeah, I hope Heath Ledger does get the award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in The Dark Knight. He definitely deserves it. His performance was absolutely superb in that movie.
Anyway, that's all for now. I'll try to update more often if I can but definitely only on weekends because I really have to get started on my dissertation. So have a fun weekend people!

  • Arrghh, so frustrating!

Now, I really think Rafa Benitez should get sacked from Liverpool. He's coming up with nonsensical tactics and damaging the chances of my beloved football club to win the league. He better start improving Liverpool's results or else he's gone!
Oh, anyway I just celebrated Chinese New Year. Mostly the same routine like every other year. Steamboat dinner on the eve, cleaning up the porch and kitchen after that, visiting houses on the 1st day and gambling at night. Ang pow collection was surprisingly good despite the economic gloom. Expected less than what I already collected. But my luck in blackjack was totally sucky this year! Lost like crap even though I played with small money each hand. Sigh... No more gambling for me in the year of the Ox then.
Heard some interesting events happened between people that I know recently. I wasn't around to hear it first hand because I was busy during my exams. But what I heard yesterday kind of shocked me. Not only because of who were involved but also how much some people are not who they seem to be. Like the Malay saying, "diam-diam ubi berisi". Haha.
My holiday's almost over. Damn.. Classes are going to start again, heavy workload, results from the exams coming. So not looking forward to next week! Till then, have a blessed Lunar New Year people!

  • Can't They Just Open Up Their Minds??

I'm back again. Yup. It's the holidays and I don't have anything much to do these days except for watching tennis, surfing the Net, helping my mom do some chores at home and becoming a driver for my parents. Nothing's going on lately and I'm simply blogging because I'm bored.

Just a few days ago I read in the papers that PAS (one of the political parties in Malaysia) wanted to ban Rihanna from performing in Malaysia. What's up with that?? The reasons given are insulting eastern culture, belittling local artistes, intentionally causing losses to the country’s economy and supporting Israel’s war policy, which is supported by America. WTF??? Here's the first thing I want to say. Local artistes in Malaysia kinda suck. I hate most of them and the music that they produce. Honestly, I think that they don't have the talent in producing good music that will make people listen and support them by buying their albums. So, I clearly don't see the concert being detrimental to the local artistes at all. Secondly, what the heck does her performing in Malaysia has to do with insulting eastern culture?? Define eastern culture! Her songs clearly don't insult any culture in any way. A lot of Malaysians are "westernized" anyway so that doesn't make a big difference. Plus, I'm sure she has quite a number of fans here in Malaysia. What's wrong with giving her a chance to perform live in front of her own fans who by the way, might only get to see her live once in their lifetimes. PAS gave another reason; Rihanna wears sexy, skimpy outfits. Do they really think that she's going to wear sexy, skimpy outfits in Malaysia? Of course not, you dumb fools!! There are regulations for international artistes warning them to dress decently or face a fine. I certainly did not see Mariah Carey revealing too much when she performed in Malaysia. If she can follow the guidelines, why can't Rihanna, right? And another thing, one of the party's chief said this, "Whether Rihanna realises it or not, we know that the taxes she has paid also contributed to the war in Gaza". Oh my gosh!!! Might as well put the blame on all the Americans who paid their taxes then! Then I'll say that Malaysians who paid their taxes are contributing to stupid beautification projects, a low standard public transportation system, construction of state of the art buildings/structures but later not utilized and giving a chance to let a man eat roti canai in space! For goodness sake, letting her perform live here won't do ANY harm to the country or the "eastern culture".

On another note, I simply have to comment on Malaysia's football. IT"S TOTAL RUBBISH!!! You've got to be joking if you said Malaysia is going to qualify for the Asian Cup in about 2 years' time. First game of qualifying? Lost to UAE 5-0. UAE has just been emerging as a mighty footballing nation in the past few years. 10 years ago; UAE wasn't even mentioned as a nation who can produce good football. On the other hand, Malaysia were one of the best Asian teams during the '70s and early '80s. We did qualify for the Olympics, twice. We also won broze at the Asian Games twice. Nowadays, we can't even sniff at the bronze medal at the South East Asia Games, let alone gold. Ranked at 158 in the world, Malaysia are better off relying on badminton, bowling and squash to redeem some pride on the international front.

Well, I guess that's it. Gotta go sleep and have a nice little dream now. I wish.
